22 dec 2021 · Those kind of freezes happen when SonarLint tries to reach the server and doesn't get any response (eg when the server or network is down).
We just migrated from SonarQube 6.x to SonarQube 8.x. SonarLint 4.16.0.31683 was the most recent version of the plugin I could use with SonarQube 6.x and it worked fine. Today I updated to SonarLint 6.3.1.40498 right after we migrated to SonarQube 8.x, and IntelliJ became unresponsive for several minutes during startup: "AWT-EventQueue-0" prio=0 tid=0x0 nid=0x0 waiting on condition java.lang.Thread.State: WAITING on java.util.concurrent.CompletableFuture$Signaller@3b4bb82 at java.base@...

SonarLint (10.2.1.77304) constantly freezes my IDE for 4 to 15 seconds. When I disable the plugin the IDE freezes (mostly) stop. To be clear: Sometimes IntelliJ itself stops due to indexing or whatever, but with SonarLint it’s an intolerable nightmare. It’s a constant stop & go, with only a few minutes where it’s not freezing. SonarLint must be put completely in the background, before that is done, I have to let the SonarLint plugin be completely disabled. Otherwise it’s a too big productivity...

The freeze occurs between approximately 22:54:55 and 22:56:31 with a very short unfreeze in the middle of that for a second or two but hardly worth mentioning.
Recently I have started to have a rather long freeze (about a minute and a half) midway during startup. Meaning I can see some menu items appear and then some others appear after the freeze. This is new on a 2018 MBP. 10.14.6. I've not had a problem like this before on this machine.
